was selected to serve as a featured presenter for the National Dental Hygienist鈥檚 Association
(NDHA) Student Success Program during the 113 th National Dental Association (NDA)
Convention, held July 16-19, 2026, in Richmond, Virginia.
The prestigious national convention, held under the theme 鈥淎rchitects of Change,鈥� brought
together dental professionals, educators, students, and leaders from across the country for four
days of continuing education, professional development, networking, and leadership
opportunities. The 2026 convention welcomed more than 750 attendees and featured more than
100 exhibitors, with programming focused on clinical practice, education, leadership,
technology, public health, and the future of dentistry.
As part of the NDHA鈥檚 License Ready: Student Success Program, Professor Janajreh was invited
to provide specialized instruction designed to help dental hygiene students build the knowledge,
confidence, and test-taking skills necessary for success on the National Board Dental Hygiene
Examination (NBDHE).
Her presentation, 鈥淔rom Exam Stress to Exam Success,鈥� focused on one of the most significant
challenges facing dental hygiene students: translating years of rigorous academic and clinical
preparation into successful performance on a high-stakes national examination.
Rather than focusing solely on content review, the presentation provided students with practical
strategies they could begin using immediately within their dental hygiene programs. Topics
included effective approaches to answering examination questions, recognizing common testing
traps, managing examination stress, improving critical-thinking skills, developing effective study
habits, and approaching challenging questions with greater confidence.
The session was particularly meaningful because of the range of students in attendance.
Participants represented all stages of dental hygiene education, from first-year students beginning
their professional journey to senior students preparing to enter the profession and sit for the
national board examination. This allowed the presentation to extend beyond traditional board-
review preparation and emphasize the importance of developing strong examination and critical-
thinking skills throughout dental hygiene school.
As part of the NDHA Student Success Program, six of the dental hygiene students in attendance
received scholarships that allowed them to attend the conference at no cost, including access to
the national convention and Professor Janajreh鈥檚 presentation. NDHA describes this program as
an initiative designed to prepare dental hygiene students for licensure while strengthening the
future dental hygiene workforce.
For Professor Janajreh the opportunity represented an extension of her longstanding commitment
to student success, dental hygiene education, and professional development. As an experienced
dental hygiene educator and national board-review presenter, she has dedicated much of her
career to helping students not only master challenging dental hygiene content, but also develop
the confidence and strategies necessary to succeed academically and professionally.
The importance of this work extends well beyond a single examination. Research examining
preparation for the NBDHE has identified consistent preparation, strong academic performance,
confidence, organization, motivation, and effective board-review strategies as important
components of student success.
Presenting at a national professional convention also provided an opportunity to represent

surrounding the preparation and development of the next generation of dental hygienists.
The experience also reflects the growing role of dental hygiene educators as mentors and leaders
beyond their individual institutions. By sharing evidence-informed educational strategies with
students from programs across the country, Professor Janajreh contributed to the professional
development of future dental hygienists while strengthening the connection between dental
hygiene education, student achievement, and workforce readiness.
